Welcome to Samurai Arts Academy in Chesterville, Ontario! We are a traditional family-oriented martial arts academy. Our training is welcoming to all skill levels and physical abilities. Whether you want to join Jiu-Jitsu classes, or Kickboxing classes for sparring, you’ll grow on and off the mat. Students are taught honor and respect as they become more self-aware and confident. They’ll also improve their discipline and focus while learning self-defense skills to use in real-world situations. About This School

About Our School
At Samurai Arts Academy Chesterville, we are a traditional, client-focused martial arts academy. Our instructors create a positive, structured environment that instills a Warrior mindset in every student. Both our Kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu classes are rooted in discipline and respect, helping students grow on and off the mat. Beyond training, we actively engage in community events and host social gatherings to foster strong connections.
We’re proudly endorsed by Soke Robert Panneton, a world-renowned martial artist and headmaster of our system. He is the founder of the International Jiujitsu Organization in Quebec, Vice President of W.E.B.B.S., and holds a 10th Dan in Jiu-Jitsu and 7th Dan in Karate. With over 60 years of experience—including work as a tactical team supervisor in Montreal and professional bodyguard—his leadership sets the high standards we follow.

History
Samurai Arts Academy was founded in 2017 in Metcalfe, Ontario, where it built a strong reputation for traditional martial arts and community values. Our original Metcalfe location continues to thrive—learn more at Samurai Arts Academy Metcalfe.
In 2024, we expanded to Chesterville under division owner Jean-Philippe Perron, a lifelong martial artist and police officer. Jean-Philippe is passionate about helping students grow through discipline, resilience, and the timeless values of martial arts.

Our instructors are a blend of different skills and strengths. Each provides 20+ years of martial arts experience with cross-training experience in different styles. Some are even bilingual in English and French to help students from different backgrounds. There is one thing all our coaches agree on: placing a big emphasis on respect and discipline. Jean-Philippe Perron
Sensei 2nd dan Black Belt
Owner/Operator and Head Instructor of Samurai Arts Academy Chesterville
Sensei JP was born and raised in Chicoutimi, Qc. He started his martial arts journey in Yoseikan Karate. He is a 2nd degree Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu, and an accomplished kickboxer with 20+ years of martial arts training. He delivers services in French and English and has been a police officer for the past 24 years.

Vincent Courchaine
Sensei 2nd dan Black Belt
Assistant Instructor
Sensei Vince was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. He started learning Can Ryu Jiu-Jitsu from his father at a very young age. He is a 2nd degree Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu, an experienced kickboxer, and Krav Maga practitioner. With 17 years of martial arts experience, he delivers services in English and in French.

Shihan Dwayne was born and raised in Goose Bay, NF & Labrador. He is a 6th Degree black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and BTT Brazilian Blue belt. He has 40+ years of martial arts training.

Kickboxing Classes
Our Kickboxing classes provide an extra level of cardio. You can come on in and become a healthier person and get in shape. You’ll build confidence as you engage in contact sparring that will improve your physical fitness and self-defense skills.

Jiu-Jitsu Classes
Our Jiu-Jitsu classes will challenge both your body and mind to help you grow stronger, more confident, and more resilient. Students learn proper falls, striking, and grappling techniques to build practical self-defense skills they can trust in real-life situations. At Samurai Arts Academy, belt promotions are never given based on attendance alone—they are earned through merit, hard work, and consistent effort. Every class is an opportunity to push your limits and take one step closer to mastering the art.
